Host 2024

An international non-governmental organization working to build capacity amongst the research and education communities, ITOCA aims to initiate a recurrent collection development conversation in the African region.

Conference venue and lodging

The Vineyard Hotel, situated on the Eastern slopes of Table Mountain in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, will be the venue for the 2024 conference. One of the most environmentally-friendly, progressive hotels in Cape Town, and home to a diverse range of fauna and flora, the hotel is also close to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and a range of attractions celebrating Cape Town's cultural scene and heritage.

Join leading publishers and librarians in Cape town to contribute to the discussion around themes of both local and international importance, from climate change to political, religious and socio-economic factors, as we seek strategies to reflect, protect and preserve the heterogeneity and richness of the world's scholarly information channels for the future.

All participants must be registered. Sign up to receive the Fiesole Retreat newsletter for updates and to be notified when registration opens.

The meeting offers a valuable opportunity for a truly global conversation that puts Africa at the very heart of the programme, helping to bridge the gap between North and South and giving voice to unique African perspectives that have, until now, been less represented in scholarly publishing and Western library collections.

The conference programme will be shared on this page as soon as it is made available.
